Tradesperson Website Costs 2026
What does a proper website for a trade business cost in 2026? The range is wide: between €600 and €12,000 one-off. We get asked this several times a week. Here is the honest breakdown of what actually makes sense at which price.
Three price categories, reality-checked
Category 1: website builders such as Wix, Jimdo, Squarespace. Free to a low three-figure sum one-off, then a small monthly subscription. You build the site yourself from templates. Works for a simple business-card presence, but falls behind the competition in rankings.
Category 2: WordPress agency with a theme. A mid four-figure sum one-off, plus monthly costs for hosting and maintenance. Industry standard, moderate effort, moderate quality.
Category 3: custom website with its own code. €12,980 to €14,280 one-off (market range for comparable agency projects as of 20.07.2026, from public cost guides), €50 to €200 a month. Made to measure, usually with faster loading times and better findability thanks to individual schema markup.
At bytebrise there is one standard price for trade businesses: €490 setup and €149 a month, cancellable monthly. It includes the website, plus a maintained Google Business Profile, directory listings, reviews and three numbers every month as proof. Details on the pricing page. All prices are final prices. Under § 19 UStG no VAT is charged.
What a professional tradesperson website includes
At least 10 pages: home page, about us with team introduction, overview of trades, individual detail pages per trade, references with before and after, contact, imprint (Impressum), privacy policy, terms and conditions.
For a one-person business without separate trade detail pages, much less can be enough. What then determines the price is explained under website with 2 to 3 pages.
Mobile-first responsive design that also works on a building site with poor reception. Lighthouse performance above 80, ideally above 90.
LocalBusiness schema listing every trade individually. FAQPage schema for common questions such as how long a staircase takes.
CRM integration, ideally a direct handover from the enquiry to the customer record without typing anything twice. Accessibility to WCAG 2.1 AA, mandatory for business websites since June 2025.
What extras realistically cost
Photo shoot on site and in the workshop by a photographer: €600 to €2,000 for half a day. Drone shots around €300 extra.
Copywriting by a copywriter: €80 to €200 per page. For 10 pages that is €800 to €2,000 extra. Alternative: the owner supplies the copy.
Reference gallery with 30 properly prepared project examples: €500 to €1,500 extra depending on image editing.
Video workshop tour with drone and editing: €1,500 to €5,000 depending on effort. A big conversion lever, but expensive.
Running costs, realistically estimated
Hosting with a standard provider: €5 to €20 a month.
Agency maintenance package: €50 to €200 a month for security updates, backups and minor content changes.
Domain: €10 to €30 a year.
Google Ads as a lead generator: €300 to €1,500 a month depending on region and competition. Often very economical for tradespeople, because click costs are lower than in other industries.
Total cost of ownership over 5 years
Building it yourself on Wix: a low four-figure sum in pure subscription costs over 5 years, plus ongoing time for maintenance which, at your internal hourly rate, quickly eats up the supposed price advantage.
WordPress agency: a mid to high four-figure sum over 5 years (one-off costs plus ongoing maintenance).
Custom code with bytebrise Sichtbar: €490 setup plus €149 a month over 5 years = €9,430, cancellable monthly.
Counter-intuitively, custom code is often cheaper than WordPress over its lifetime, because there are no plugin licences and no constant security patches for plugin vulnerabilities.
Budget under €500?
For a budget under €500, none of the three models above is the right answer. For that there is soloklar, our own do-it-yourself website kit: €129 one-off, no subscription, put together yourself in an afternoon with the help of a wizard, with logo and legal text templates included.
