One prompt reveals why your website isn't bringing in enquiries

Free, in 5 minutes, no sign-up. Copy the prompt below, paste it into ChatGPT or Claude, and you'll get an honest assessment of your website from the perspective of a typical customer, with grades and concrete improvements.

The prompt

Copy the entire text, then enter your own website address on the marked line.

You are a typical potential customer. You found a trade, practice, law firm or consulting website through a Google search, and in the next 5 seconds you'll decide whether to stay or click away again. You don't know the business, you're not predisposed to like it, and you have little patience.

My website: [PASTE YOUR WEBSITE ADDRESS HERE, e.g. www.example-company.com]

Open the page. If you can't open websites, say so honestly and base your assessment instead on what I tell you in this conversation. Judge the page purely from a customer's point of view, not as a web designer. Be honest and specific, not nice. I don't want compliments, I want to know why visitors leave without getting in touch.

Check exactly these six points:

1. Instant clarity: Is it clear within 5 seconds what's on offer and for whom? Or do I have to scroll or guess first?
2. Value proposition: Is there a concrete promise (for example "same-day appointments" or "20 years in [town]"), or just interchangeable phrases like "quality and expertise" or "your partner for..."?
3. Trust: Are there real photos instead of obvious stock photos, real reviews or testimonials, an easy-to-find imprint page?
4. Contact friction: How many clicks does it take to reach a phone number, contact form or booking page? Are there obstacles like broken links, a hidden form, or a phone number that isn't tappable on mobile?
5. Local SEO basics: Is the location in the page title or heading? Are opening hours visible? Is the Google Business Profile linked?
6. Mobile readability: Would the page read well on a smartphone screen, with large enough text and buttons, without horizontal scrolling?

Give me a grade from 1 (excellent) to 6 (fail) for each of the six points, with a one-sentence reason. Then tell me the three most important improvements, in plain language, without jargon, so I can understand them without any technical knowledge.

The line with "My website" is copied along with the rest, replace the placeholder in it with your real address.

What the prompt can't see

An AI in a chat window judges your website roughly the way a human perceives it at first glance, not the way a browser or search engine processes it technically. That leaves four things out:

  • Load time: how fast the page actually loads, on a real smartphone with a mobile connection.
  • Technical SEO: page structure, structured data (Schema.org), internal linking, robots.txt.
  • GDPR details: whether the cookie banner is legally compliant, data processing agreements, the privacy policy in detail.
  • Accessibility: contrast, keyboard operation, screen-reader compatibility per WCAG.

The prompt shows symptoms, our Quick-Check measures the technical side

The prompt check doesn't replace a technical test. Our free Website Quick-Check checks HTTPS, GDPR basics, performance and SEO in 60 to 90 seconds, right in your browser, no sign-up.

Frequently asked questions

Does this cost anything?
No. The prompt is completely free, with no hidden costs and no newsletter sign-up required. All you need is a free account with ChatGPT or Claude.
Do I need an account with ChatGPT or Claude?
Yes, you need an account, but both providers can be used for free, without payment details. The free tiers have a daily or monthly limit on requests, which is more than enough for a single check.
How accurate is the result?
It's an assessment, not a measurement. Two AI systems can give the same website slightly different grades, depending on what catches their attention first. That's good enough for a rough first impression; for reliable numbers on technical and SEO issues, you need our free Quick-Check or a personal consultation.
What do I do with the result?
It's best to note down the three improvements it names and discuss them with whoever maintains your website, or fix the easiest points yourself right away. If you also want to know whether the technical side is sound, follow up with our Quick-Check.
Why are you giving this away for free?
Because a good first impression is worth more to us than a prompt we keep to ourselves. Some people go on to try our technical Quick-Check afterwards, and a smaller number eventually become clients. We'd rather have both than have someone keep running a weak website without ever noticing.
