What really drives the price

Four things set the price: the number of pages, your industry, the add-on features you want, and how much content you bring yourself. The first three sit in the calculator above; the fourth is the biggest lever of all, and no calculator can capture it.

The number of pages sets the base package. A three-page business card needs less structure than a large project with more than twenty pages, which brings correspondingly more planning, navigation and editorial work with it.

Some industries simply need more functionality from the start. An online shop or an architecture practice with a project gallery carries a higher base effort than a straightforward trade website with services, directions and a contact form. That is why the industry enters the estimate as a multiplier.

Blog, online shop and multilingual support are add-ons you book individually, not standard equipment. If you do not need them, you do not pay for them.

The biggest price driver, though, is none of those three. It is the question of who supplies the content. If you bring finished text and images, the effort drops noticeably. More on this in our guide What really determines a website's price.

Before you sign, the ownership question is worth a look too: who owns the domain, the source code, the text and the images if you part ways with a provider? The four questions to ask are in our guide Who owns your website?

And if you already have an agency quote in front of you, seven concrete questions will help you judge it. They are set out in our guide Questions for your first agency meeting.

Common questions about the calculator

How accurate is the price range from this calculator?
The calculator shows an estimate based on our four standard packages, from €1,490 for the business card up to €7,900 for a large project, plus the industry and add-on features you select. We name the exact price for your specific project in the free initial call.
What is included in the fixed price shown?
Design, technical build, content coordination, accessibility and performance checks, plus a simple admin backend so you can maintain the site yourself. Individual work beyond the package is billed at €110 per hour.
What is the difference between the fixed price and the rental alternative (WaaS)?
If you buy, the code, design and content are yours from day one and you pay the fixed price once. With Website as a Service you pay a smaller setup fee and a fixed monthly rate after that. The website transfers into your ownership automatically after 24 months, and you can buy it out earlier at any time.
Why is a classical agency more expensive according to this calculator?
The market comparison draws on research across several German cost guides and marketplaces for web design projects in 2026, not on the quote of any one provider. The range we observed sits at roughly 2 to 2.2 times our price. The difference comes mainly from leaner, AI-assisted production steps, not from less quality.
What does ongoing care cost after launch?
A Care plan is optional and starts at €49 a month, cancellable monthly. Without a Care plan your website keeps running; only updates and monitoring stop.
Are the prices shown final prices including tax?
Yes. bytebrise applies the German small-business exemption (§19 UStG). All prices shown are final prices with no separate VAT line, so the amount named is the amount you actually pay.
